What can I say? I like the way things look through a viewfinder. The idea that we can distill life and all its’ action and chaos, down to one frozen moment in time is why I love photography. Although I dabble in many different types of photography, I consider myself a portrait and stock photographer. The challenge of capturing everyday objects and situations in new and interesting ways to convey a feeling or statement absolutely invigorates me. The way I see it, every day I am able to photograph something, is a good day indeed.

How many things can you think of that you can spend all day doing and still be energized after? Well, photography is that way for me. At eight years old, armed with my Brownie camera I went on vacation to capture the world. I have been taking photos ever since. This was the beginning of a lifelong passion with awareness, perspective and a means to capture and record that which is often a onetime exhibit of life. While photography is always on my mind, I have loved raising four children, writing, making clothes, participating in the crocheting craze, needlepoint, sketching which lead to painting, quilting, fabric art and digital manipulation. Creative exploration has been my constant theme. Throughout this time, I have taken classes, attended seminars and have had memberships in many creative organizations.

Photography allows me be part of and record life as it unfolds. In this fast paced world, photographs provide an opportunity to revisit special memories, have a permanent creation of a dynamic and impermanent time and subject. By shifting perspective, the unseen is illuminated and the obvious is highlighted in new and vibrant ways. I enjoy patterns and shapes as well as the creative process in illuminating them. While I am witness to what is in front of me, I look for the story and strive to bring the essence to the forefront. My passion is in black and white photography and I am not limited to studio photography. I also enjoy on location and environmental portraits. I want to photograph you where you are most comfortable!
